Striped Maple Hollow is a thirteen song affair, featuring nine original compositions and four covers, including three standards and our unique take on Happy Together.

We've been performing together since June 2009. Each year since then we have honed our unique sound, which blends our love of bluegrass, folk, old-time music, country, and rock and roll. We feature two female vocalists, who alternate on lead vocals and harmony, and two multi-instrumentalists, who alternate between guitar, mandolin, banjo, and harmonica - and a few extra instruments on the album. Three of the four members contributed original compositions to the album, giving it variety in perspective and the stories it tells.

We recorded the album at VOMA, engineering and mixing the recordings ourselves. We took advantage of the natural acoustics of the gallery space at VOMA, which was the former sanctuary, to record almost every part of each song live. The album was mastered by RJ Dietrich at Blue Sofa Studios, and the album artwork includes contributions from Sarah Sloan, sister of Striped Maple Hollow’s Micah Mood, and Terry Smith and Phil Balko of Johnstown. The album is truly a Johnstown project and a family affair.
